Your building's rules
What our apartment movers in Calgary plan around
Most Calgary apartment and condo buildings have move rules, and in Alberta a condo corporation can enforce its bylaws on tenants, not just owners. Before you pick a date, ask your building or property manager five things:
- When can you move? Many buildings set move hours, ask for several days' notice and limit how long a booking lasts.
- Is the elevator booked? Book it, and the loading dock if there is one, for the whole move.
- Is there a move fee or a deposit? Some buildings charge a fee for move-ins and move-outs, or take a deposit against damage.
- What insurance do they need from the movers? Many buildings want a certificate of insurance before moving day.
- Where can the truck park, and does the building limit truck length?
Whether you need condo movers or a crew for a rental suite, send us the answers with your quote request. Our apartment moving services are planned around them, at both ends of the move.
What adds time
Elevators, stairs and the hourly bill
Apartment moves are billed by the hour, so the building's layout shows up in the time.
Elevator windows.
Book a window longer than the move should take. As a guide, a one- or two-bedroom apartment usually takes 4 to 7 hours of labour. When the window is tight, a third mover adds $50 an hour and can shorten the day.
Shared elevators and long carries.
Waiting for a shared elevator, or a long walk from the loading area to your door, adds time.

Walk-ups.
Without an elevator, everything goes up or down the stairs, which takes longer. Tell us the floor and the number of flights when we follow up.
Furniture that won't fit.
Beds and tables that have to come apart for the elevator are taken apart and put back together, as part of the move's time.
Floors and furniture.
Floor runners go down along the path in and out of your suite, and furniture travels in moving blankets and shrink wrap, at no charge.
From a real job
A couch over the balcony in Airdrie
Not every move fits through the door. Sometimes a piece won't go down the stairs or into the elevator, and we have to get creative. On a client's rental move in Airdrie in September 2026, her couch left by the balcony.
- Where: A rental unit in Airdrie
- When: September 2026, booked about eight weeks ahead
- The problem: A couch too big for the stairwell
- The deadline: Her landlord's move-out inspection, planned for 5:00 pm on moving day
On moving day
The railing padded with a moving blanket.
The couch, shrink-wrapped, lifted onto the railing.
Eased over the side.
How we planned it
She asked when the crew would arrive, to leave herself time to clean before the inspection. We planned for 8:30 to 9:00 am, and she wrote back: "That's perfect and what I was hoping for." She planned to move her boxes and small things herself the day before, leaving the furniture for our crew. Two days before the move, she emailed us about the couch, and we confirmed the crew would bring straps.
"The couch will need to be removed by using the balcony and it will have to go into my new unit the same way. I just wanted to be sure the crew is aware and will have the supplies they need to be able to do it safely."

Have a piece that won't fit the stairs or the elevator? Tell us when we follow up and we'll plan for it.
Truck parking
Parking the moving truck
Where the truck parks decides how far every piece has to travel.
- Loading docks and zones. If your building has one, book it with the elevator.
- Street loading zones. City loading zones are for short stops, not a move that takes hours.
- A curb space of your own. The City of Calgary's street use permit can reserve space for a move, with a temporary no-parking permit issued alongside it. The permit starts at $31.50 a day plus GST, and in a ParkPlus zone the parking fees apply for as long as the space is held. Apply at least five business days ahead, or 15 for a high-impact location such as downtown. The signs go up at least 12 hours before the move.
- Truck length. Your move travels on a 26-foot truck. If your building limits truck length, tell us when you book.
For your building
A certificate of insurance for your building
Property managers usually want proof of insurance before movers come in. We're fully insured and bonded, with $5 million in general liability coverage, and our crew is covered by WCB. Tell us who the certificate needs to name, usually the condo corporation or the property manager, and we'll send it to the building before your move.
Hourly rates
What our apartment movers in Calgary charge
Apartment moves are billed by the hour, and every figure here comes with the conditions that go with it:

a 3-hour minimum
- a 1-hour truck and travel charge, which covers 30 minutes each way inside Calgary
- $50 an hour for each extra mover or truck
- plus GST, and evening and weekend moves cost the same as weekdays
Crew guide and typical ranges
As a guide, here is the labour time these moves usually take. The figures leave out the travel charge and GST, and every move is different.
| Move | Crew | Usual hours | Labour cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small move | 2 movers | 3 to 5 | $450 to $750 |
| 1 to 2 bedrooms | 2 to 3 movers | 4 to 7 | $600 to $1,400 |
Protection included
The materials are included at no charge: moving blankets, shrink wrap, floor runners and general furniture protection.
Additional services
Ask for any of these on our quote form or when we follow up.
What changes the final cost
The final cost is set by the time the job takes. These are what usually add to it:
Elevator time.
Waiting for a shared elevator, or a booking window that runs short, adds time. Book a window longer than the move should take.
Walk-ups.
Without an elevator, everything goes up or down the stairs. Tell us the floor and the number of flights when we follow up.
Where the truck parks.
A long walk from the loading area or the curb to your door adds carrying time at both ends of the move.
Furniture that comes apart.
Beds and tables that won't fit in the elevator are taken apart and put back together, and that time is part of the move.
Distance.
Towns around Calgary are charged the round-trip drive from our Calgary base, and long-distance moves add the drive both ways and a fuel surcharge.
Volume and packing.
How much is moving sets the hours more than anything else. Packing time goes into your quote when you ask for it, and plastic bins are charged separately.
When you compare apartment moving companies, ask what the hourly rate includes. Ours includes the crew, the truck, moving blankets, shrink wrap and floor runners. Our moving rates, with the conditions that go with them, are on our page of Calgary movers' rates.
A reply the way you prefer
Send us the basics through our quote form, and a member of our team follows up by phone, text or email, whichever you prefer.

Renting in Alberta
Moving out of a rental in Alberta
If you rent, Alberta's rules for ending a tenancy shape moving day:
- Out by noon. In Alberta's own example, a lease that ends on December 31 means moving out by noon that day, unless you and your landlord arrange otherwise. Book the move so the suite is empty in time.
- The inspection reports. Landlords and tenants must complete both a move-in and a move-out inspection report. Without them, a landlord can't deduct damage or cleaning costs from your deposit.
- Your deposit. With no deductions, the full deposit plus interest is due within 10 days of the day you give up possession. With deductions, the landlord has the same 10 days to return the balance with a statement of account. The other option is an estimate, with the final statement within 30 days of the tenancy ending.

Frequently asked questions
Cost and time
What it costs, and how long it takes.
How much do apartment movers cost in Calgary?
We charge $150 an hour for two movers and a 26-foot truck, with a 3-hour minimum and a 1-hour truck and travel charge inside Calgary, plus GST. A one- or two-bedroom apartment usually takes two or three movers 4 to 7 hours of labour, or $600 to $1,400 before the travel charge and GST. Every move is different.
How long does an apartment move take?
A small move usually takes 3 to 5 hours of labour with two movers, and a one- or two-bedroom apartment 4 to 7 hours with two or three. Elevator waits, stairs and a long carry from the truck all add time.
Your building
Stairs, move hours and insurance.
What if my building has no elevator?
We carry everything up and down the stairs. It takes longer than an elevator move, so tell us the floor and the number of flights when you book, and we'll size the crew for it.
Do you move on evenings and weekends?
Yes, and evening and weekend moves cost the same as weekdays. Many buildings limit move hours, so check yours before you choose a time.
Can you send a certificate of insurance to my building?
Yes. Tell us who it needs to name, and we'll send it to your building or property manager before moving day.
Have a question we didn't answer? Call us and we'll talk it through.
