These are our Calgary movers' rates and the conditions that come with them. Moving is billed by the hour and the time your move takes sets the final cost, so you'll also find typical ranges by home size and what adds time. Transport and container starting rates are further down.

Calgary movers' rates by home size
As a guide, here's the labour a move usually takes. These moving rates leave out the travel charge and GST, and every move is different.
| Home size | Crew | Usual hours | Labour cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small move | 2 movers | 3 to 5 | $450 to $750 |
| 1 to 2 bedrooms | 2 to 3 movers | 4 to 7 | $600 to $1,400 |
| 2 to 3 bedrooms | 3 movers | 6 to 9 | $1,200 to $1,800 |
| 3 to 4 bedrooms | 3 to 4 movers | 7 to 11 | $1,400 to $2,750 |
How much do movers cost in Calgary?
With us, a one- or two-bedroom home usually takes 4 to 7 hours of labour with two or three movers: $600 to $1,400, plus the 1-hour truck and travel charge inside Calgary and GST. A three- or four-bedroom home usually takes 7 to 11 hours with three or four movers. How much you own, and how easy the homes are to work in, move those numbers more than anything else.
What adds time
What changes the final cost
Your estimate depends on what you tell us about the move and on the conditions on moving day. The final cost is set by the time the job takes, and these usually add time:
- stairs, and a long carry from where the truck can park to your door
- furniture that has to be taken apart, or a door taken off to get an item out
- a small elevator, or one that's out of service on moving day
- parking and loading access at either end
- items that need special handling
- extra services, such as packing
- weather and road conditions
Telling us about these on our quote form or when we follow up keeps your estimate close to your final bill. If the job changes on moving day, we go over the change with you before doing any extra work.
Beyond the city
Moves outside Calgary
-
What you pay
Towns around Calgary:
the same hourly rate, and the travel charge is the round-trip drive from our Calgary base.
Strathmore, for example, is about 45 minutes each way, so a Strathmore move carries an hour and a half of travel.
-
What you pay
Long-distance moves:
- the hours on the job at our hourly rate,
- the drive time both ways at the same rate,
- and a fuel surcharge worked out for each trip from the distance, the fuel the truck uses and the price of fuel.
The surcharge covers our cost only. Plus GST, and each trip is quoted on its own.
Each moving service has its own page, linked from our moving services page.
Packing and bins
Packing and plastic bins
Packing is part of your moving quote: ask for it on our quote form or when we follow up, and the time goes into your quote. Packing done on moving day is billed at the move's hourly rate. Packing the day before is $120 an hour for two movers, plus packing materials and GST. We can also pack just part of your home, such as the kitchen.
Our reusable plastic bins, about 45 litres each, rent for $4 each plus GST for moves within Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks, dropped off about two weeks before the move and picked up after it. For moves out of that area, long-distance moves from Calgary included, the bins are $15 each plus GST to buy.

Is GST included in your moving rates?
No. Our moving rates are plus GST.
Do evening or weekend moves cost more?
No. Evening and weekend moves cost the same as weekday moves.
How the price is set
Fixed prices and minimums.
Can you give me a fixed price?
No. We bill by the hour, because the time a move takes depends on how much you're moving and how the homes are laid out. Telling us about stairs, long carries and furniture that needs taking apart keeps your quote close to your final bill.
