What our hotshot services in Calgary carry
What a hotshot run can carry
Pallets:
up to 12 standard 48 x 40 in pallet spaces per truck.
Weight:
load capacity starts at 6,000 lb per truck and scales up as needed.
Sites without a dock:
a tailgate with a 2,500 lb freight limit, and an electric pallet jack rated to 3,000 lb.
Temperature-controlled loads:
our temperature-controlled truck carries frozen freight and, in winter, keeps a load warm, with GPS temperature logging and a trip report on request. It's available subject to scheduling.
Healthcare supplies:
for people and animals, to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, veterinary clinics and warehouses.
Loading and unloading
are included.
What it covers
That covers equipment, bulky items, palletized stock and job-site materials that need to move today or first thing tomorrow, on one truck with nobody else's freight on board. We're fully insured and bonded, with $5 million in general liability, cargo insurance and WCB coverage.
Money
Hotshot services in Calgary: how the rate works
Hotshot rates start from $2.85 per km on the agreed loaded route. The conditions that go with that rate:
The conditions
- a 100 km minimum outside Calgary
- the first stop is included, and each extra stop is $50
- a loaded return is billed at 50%, $1.425 per km, plus fuel, and an empty return is free
- waiting time is $60 an hour after the first 15 minutes at each stop
- weekend runs are 25% more, when agreed at booking
- faster service types are priced on your quote
- a 30% fuel surcharge applies to the full subtotal, and GST is added after that
A worked example
Here's a worked example: a 300 km hotshot with 5 delivery stops comes to $1,371.50 plus GST. Our starting rates for every service are on our pricing page for moving, transport and container work.
Weekly to Edmonton

We run to Edmonton every week. For a hotshot from Calgary to Edmonton, you get a dedicated truck and driver on your schedule, billed by the kilometre as above.

How to book
Booking a hotshot
Tell us:
- the pickup and delivery points, and any stops in between
- the pallet count, or the weight and dimensions of the load
- the time window at each end
- whether you need the tailgate or temperature control
Call us, or send our quote form and we'll follow up by phone, text or email, whichever you prefer. Terms are Net 15, or Net 30 by agreement, with no cancellation fee. Hotshots are one part of what we run as a transport company in Calgary.

What a hotshot is, where and how fast.
What's the difference between a hotshot and a courier?
A hotshot is one truck dedicated to your load, driving straight from pickup to delivery without other customers' freight on board. Ours are 5-ton straight trucks, so a hotshot can carry up to 12 pallets.
Do you run hotshots outside Alberta?
No. Our hotshot runs stay within Alberta.
How fast can a hotshot go out?
Most runs are booked the day before. When a truck is free, we run the same day within Alberta.

Is there a minimum charge?
Outside Calgary, a hotshot is billed for at least 100 km on the loaded route, before the fuel surcharge and GST.
Can you carry temperature-controlled loads?
Yes. Our temperature-controlled truck carries frozen freight and keeps loads warm in winter. It's available subject to scheduling, so tell us about your load before you book. We confirm the temperature at booking and can send you a trip report with the recorded temperatures and times.
