What's included
What our packing services in Calgary include
Packing and unpacking.
We pack your belongings before the move and, if you want us to, unpack them at your new home.
All of your home, or part of it.
We can pack just the kitchen, or any part of your home, and leave the rest to you.
Fragile items.
Dishes, glassware, lamps and pictures take the most care and the most time to pack well, and our crew packs them for the move.
Furniture protection.
Moving blankets, shrink wrap and floor runners are included at no charge.
Furniture that has to come apart.
Beds, tables and similar furniture that needs to come apart is taken apart and put back together as part of the move's time.
Ask for packing on our quote form or when we follow up, and we'll plan the crew and the time around it.
Plastic moving bins
Reusable plastic moving bins
Instead of cardboard, you can rent or buy our reusable plastic bins:
How the bins work
- One size: about 45 litres, roughly 22 by 16 by 13 inches on the outside.
- $4 per bin to rent, plus GST, for moves within Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks.
- $15 per bin to buy, plus GST, for moves out of that area, long-distance moves from Calgary included.
- Rented bins are dropped off about two weeks before your move and picked up after it, within two weeks or sooner if you're unpacked early.
- As many as you need: most customers take 20 to 50.
Because every bin is the same shape, they stack neatly on the truck, and there's no pile of cardboard to get rid of after the move.
Part of your quote
How our packing services in Calgary are priced
Here's how packing is billed:
How packing is billed
Packing is part of your moving quote.
Ask for packing on our quote form or when we follow up, and we include the time in your quote along with the move itself. Packing done on moving day is billed at the move's hourly rate. Packing the day before is $120 an hour for two movers, plus packing materials and GST.
The bins are charged separately:
$4 each plus GST to rent,
or $15 each plus GST to buy.
- unpacking at your new home goes into your quote the same way, when you ask for it
- most customers take 20 to 50 bins
- rent them for moves within Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks, or buy them for moves out of that area
How we plan the packing
Packing is planned with the move, so the crew and the hours fit the whole job.
When we follow up, tell us:
- The size of your home and how much there is to pack
- Fragile pieces such as dishes, glassware, lamps and pictures
- Whether you'd like us to unpack at your new home
- How many plastic bins you'd like, if any
- Your moving date, so rented bins arrive about two weeks ahead
Protection included
The materials are included at no charge: moving blankets, shrink wrap, floor runners and general furniture protection.
Additional services
Ask for any of these on our quote form or when we follow up.
What changes the final cost
Packing time is part of the move's time. These are what usually add to it:
Size of the home.
The more there is to pack, the longer packing takes, and that time goes into your quote.
Kitchens and fragile items.
Dishes, glassware, lamps and pictures take the most care and the most time to pack well.
Unpacking.
Unpacking at your new home adds time at the other end, so ask for it when we follow up if you want it.
Bins.
Our plastic bins are charged separately from the hours, to rent or to buy.
Furniture that comes apart.
Beds, tables and similar furniture are taken apart and put back together, and that time is part of the move.
Access and stairs.
Stairs, elevators and a long carry between the truck and your door all add time to the move.
Moves are billed by the hour, at $150 an hour for two movers and a 26-foot truck, with a 3-hour minimum and a 1-hour truck and travel charge inside Calgary, plus GST. Our moving rates, with the conditions that go with them, are on our page of Calgary movers' rates.
A reply the way you prefer
Send us the basics through our quote form, and a member of our team follows up by phone, text or email, whichever you prefer.
Packing tips
If you'd rather pack yourself
Plenty of people pack their own home, and that's fine with us. A few things worth knowing:
Know what our damage terms cover.
They exclude boxes you pack yourself when the outside of the box isn't damaged, and damage caused by inadequate packing on your part.
Empty the drawers.
Things left inside dressers and desks aren't covered either, and a full drawer makes furniture heavy and easy to damage.
Put heavy things in small containers.
Books and tools belong in small boxes or bins, never large ones.
Label every box by room.
It's the fastest way to get each box to the right room at your new home.

Frequently asked questions
Packing and unpacking
How packing is charged, and unpacking.
Is packing charged separately?
Not on moving day. Packing done during the move is part of your moving quote, at the move's hourly rate. Packing the day before is $120 an hour for two movers, plus packing materials and GST. The plastic bins are charged separately: $4 each plus GST to rent, or $15 each plus GST to buy.
Do you unpack as well?
Yes. If you want us to, we unpack at your new home as part of the move.
Plastic bins
Renting bins, and when they arrive.
Can I rent your plastic bins without booking a move?
No. Our bins are for our moving customers: rented for moves within Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Okotoks, and sold for moves out of that area.
When do you drop off the bins?
We drop off rented bins about two weeks before your move and pick them up after it, within two weeks or sooner if you're done early.
