The final cost depends on the time the job takes. What usually adds time: furniture that was meant to be taken apart before we arrived but wasn't, items that need a door taken off, stairs we didn't know about, and a longer carry from the truck to the door. Telling us about these when we follow up keeps your quote close to your final bill.

  2. We follow up. By phone, text or email, whichever you prefer, we go over the move and book a free visit when your home in Calgary needs one.
  3. You get your quote. After a visit, the quote usually follows within 24 hours. For a home outside Calgary, we price the move without a visit.
  4. Moving day. We take furniture apart and put it back together when the job needs it, and we place everything where you want it.

How your price is worked out.

How much do movers in Calgary charge?

Movers in Calgary usually charge by the hour, and so do we: $150 an hour for two movers and a 26-foot truck, with a 3-hour minimum and a 1-hour truck and travel charge inside Calgary, plus GST. Moves outside Calgary are charged the round-trip drive time instead. The time your move takes sets the final cost.

Do you move outside Calgary?

Yes. We take local moves in the towns around Calgary and long-distance moves within Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan. Out-of-town moves cost the same hourly rate plus the drive from our Calgary base and back, and long-distance moves add a fuel surcharge worked out from the trip's distance and the fuel it uses.

Do evening or weekend moves cost more?

No. Evening and weekend moves cost the same as weekday moves. The time your move takes sets the final cost.

Booking and moving day

How far ahead should I book?

Many of our customers book about a month ahead, especially for a move at the end of the month. Others book two weeks, a week, or four or five days ahead.

Do you store furniture?

When you need storage between homes, we arrange it and handle both moves: into storage, and out to your new home.

Do you take furniture apart and put it back together?

Yes, when the job needs it. Taking apart beds, tables and similar furniture is part of the move's time, so tell us about those pieces when we follow up and we'll plan for them.

Coverage and claims

Insurance, WCB and damage.

Are you insured?

Yes. Top Quality Movers Ltd. is fully insured and bonded, with $5 million in general liability coverage, and our crew has WCB coverage. We can provide a certificate of insurance for your building before the move.

What if something gets damaged?

Report it to us in writing within 7 days of the move, with photos, the item's approximate weight and proof of its value. Our liability is $1.00 per pound per item, and the contract you sign before the move sets out the terms.
