The route
Where our interprovincial movers go
If you're moving out of province from Calgary, our trips run two ways:
- West to British Columbia: Golden, Revelstoke, Kelowna and Vancouver.
- East to Saskatchewan: Regina and Saskatoon.
We take the same trips in reverse, for people moving to Calgary. A move that goes past these provinces, across Canada, isn't one we take.
Three of these trips have pages of their own: Calgary to Vancouver movers, Calgary to Kelowna movers and Calgary to Regina movers. Each one links its return trip.
Across the line
What changes when a move crosses a provincial line
The road.
Heading to BC means the Rockies and their mountain passes: Kelowna is roughly 600 km from Calgary and Vancouver close to 970 km. Heading east means the prairies, and Regina is roughly 760 km away on the Trans-Canada.
The days.
The longest of these trips can take more than one day on the road, and we plan the schedule with you when we quote.
The clock.
Most of BC runs an hour behind Calgary, so book an elevator or a key handover at your new home in local time.
Hourly rates
How our interprovincial movers price the trip
Interprovincial moving is billed like a local move, with the road added:
Same rate as every move
Hours on the job:
loading and unloading at
$150 an hour
for two movers and a 26-foot truck, with a 3-hour minimum,
- plus $50 an hour for each extra mover or truck.
- The drive: charged at that hourly rate in both directions, out and back.
- Fuel: a surcharge calculated for your trip from its distance, the truck's fuel use and the current fuel price. We charge what the fuel costs us, with no markup.
- GST on top.
How we quote the trip
Because every trip is different, each one is quoted separately. If you're comparing interprovincial moving companies, ask how each one charges for the drive back and for fuel. For our local rates and their conditions, see Calgary movers' rates. For moves inside Alberta, see long-distance moving.
When we follow up, tell us:
- Both addresses, and the date you'd like to move
- How flexible your dates are, especially in winter
- The size of your home and what's moving
- Stairs, elevators or a long carry at either end
- Whether you'd like packing, bins or storage
Protection included
Furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and shrink wrap before it goes on the truck, and floor runners go down in both homes. The materials are included at no charge.
Additional services
Ask for any of these on our quote form or when we follow up.
What changes the final cost
The final cost is set by the time the job takes. These are what usually add to it:
Access at both ends.
Elevators, restricted parking and a long carry between the truck and the door add time, at either home.
Stairs.
Carrying up and down stairs, or out of a basement, takes longer. Tell us about every flight, at both homes.
Furniture and doors.
Furniture that was meant to be taken apart before we arrived but wasn't, and items that need a door taken off, add time.
The distance.
The drive is billed at the hourly rate in both directions, so the farther the trip, the more drive time in the quote.
Fuel prices.
The fuel surcharge is worked out for each trip from the price of fuel, so it rises and falls with it.
Volume and packing.
How much you own sets the hours to load and unload. Packing time goes into your quote when you ask for it, and plastic bins are charged separately.
A reply the way you prefer
Send us the basics through our quote form, and a member of our team follows up by phone, text or email, whichever you prefer.
Moving to Calgary
Moving to Calgary from another province
Coming to Calgary from BC or Saskatchewan? Our crew drives from Calgary to load at your current home, then brings everything back and unloads it at your new place in Calgary. The trip out counts as drive time at the hourly rate. Since your current home is outside Calgary, we price the move with you without a visit.
Packing and storage
Packing, bins and storage
Packing:
our crew can pack your home ahead of the drive and unpack in your new one.
Plastic bins:
leaving Calgary? Our reusable plastic bins are $15 each plus GST to buy. They aren't offered on moves into Calgary.
Storage:
if your new place isn't ready on moving day, we set up storage and handle both the move in and the move out.

Frequently asked questions
Routes and price
Which provinces, and what it costs.
Which provinces do you move between?
Between Alberta and British Columbia or Saskatchewan, in either direction. A move that starts or ends outside those three provinces isn't one we take.
How much does an interprovincial move cost?
It depends on the trip. You pay for the hours on the job at our hourly rate, the drive both ways at the same rate, and a fuel surcharge worked out for the trip, plus GST. We go through how your quote adds up when we follow up.
Booking
Home visits, and how far ahead to book.
Do you visit my home before the move?
When your home is in Calgary and the move needs a visit, the visit is free. For a home outside Calgary, we price the move with you without a visit.
How far ahead should I book?
About a month ahead, if you can. That's when many of our customers book, and it matters most for a move at the end of the month.
